Welcome to Chaucer Cellars, a store that has been in my possession since February 1988.

Over the years I have seen the liquor industry change from a once vibrant, thriving community of like minded professionals to the state of apathy it now portrays. My life is dedicated to the pursuit of my love of wine; I have rewritten my business plan and restructured my business to pursue this.

No longer a straight liquor store, Chaucer Cellars now incorporates a café and delicatessen, employing equally passionate industry professionals, each of them possessing prowess in their chosen fields. Hence this store is now embarking upon a new direction to fulfil the true potential of this business and all the staff that contribute so much here. To boldly go where no man has gone before, to discover new life forms and cultures, Gene Roddenberry would be proud.

Wine and food have long been a passion of mine; the development of this business over the last eight years has been for me to realise my passions as a viable alternative of what has been so long ignored by so many eateries in Melbourne today; a place that believes that whatever you put in your mouth has to be of the highest quality. Chosen and prepared with care and passion, honest and satisfying.

Quality, Care & Consistency

Of course it is a bit of a parochial thing choosing Italian food, with a more than small interest in Italian wine, but Mother Nature cannot be wrong, as my experience at every alfresco occasion will attest, as I'm being eaten by mozzies. Italian tastes better.
On behalf of my staff and self I would like you to visit us here and enjoy what we have to offer.
Kindest Regards,

Tommy Taranto
