What is an Enoteca?

An enoteca offers wine by the bottle, glass or takeaway. This includes food, predominantly local goods. Styled in an abbreviated setting e.g. often no kitchen and few tables

It is a wine shop with a tasting bar complete with food that accompanies the vino selection.

Carries from a Greek origin, meaning "to keep/take care of wine".

While the staff of an Enoteca are not necessarily sommeliers they are enthusiastic and always delighted to have you stop by and sample goods with a chat, or equally happy for the customer to enjoy alone.

The goal of an Enoteca is to promote high quality wine and matching foods; along with small producers and vineyards.

Author/Professor Ray Oldenburg says "The Enoteca is a venue where we are known, where we meet others who are NOT just like ourselves. It is enrichment to our lives providing us a balance and contrast from the other two habitual places; the home and the workplace."
